CHIEF

Chief Barb Okemow is a dedicated leader of Sucker Creek First Nation, committed to the well-being of all members, the protection and advancement of Treaty 8 rights, and the continued growth of community programs and services.

As the first female Chief of Sucker Creek First Nation, Chief Okemow brings strong leadership, vision, and a deep sense of responsibility to her role. She is focused on building a healthy, resilient community by supporting initiatives that promote cultural preservation, economic development, and improved quality of life for current and future generations.

Governance

Chief and Council are responsible for the overall governance of the Sucker Creek First Nation, making decisions that affect the community.

Treaty Rights

Protecting and advancing SCFN Treaty 8 rights, including hunting, fishing, trapping, and land use rights.

Community Services

Overseeing the delivery of health, education, housing, social development, and other essential programs.

Economic Development

Pursuing economic opportunities that benefit SCFN members while respecting traditional territory and values.
